Vienne 25 and 37 are the smallest new members of the elevator series.
They take on the classical form of a Vienna Lamp but also a refer to architectural archetypes.
A “roof” makes a lampshade and reflects lights of the surrounding in a convex shape conical shape. The base is made out of 3 concave walls focusing the light from the lampshade out. Both main building blocks are made of 3 pieces with each 6 segments.
The elevator series are a series of furniture and lamp that are made of stainless steel with a leather imprint like it can be found in the public realm like in trains or elevators or on an old kitchen sink. The material needs no finish and reflects the surrounding in a matt blur. Since its surface is the final finish it can only be screwed, riveted or glued with a 3M VHB double sided tape - a super strong high performance tape that is also used in airplane and vehicle construction because of its stress resistance.
The objects are folded in a state of the art press brake. Radiuses are thus segmented. A volume (that in case of a bench can carry a human) is created from 1mm thick material. The stiffness is achieved through the parts working together.
The furniture of the elevator series form volumes from a thin 2D material. They are abstractions inspired by architectural details.
The objects are playing with the light and the angle you look at them at any time of the day.
